Recently, Samsung and Sony have launched their newest flagship models that pretty much have comparable features. Samsung with its new Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Sony with its new Xperia Z5 are entering the smartphone market and attracting all kinds of attention among mobile enthusiasts. How can you compare the two of the hottest flagship phones available today? Let’s do some one-on-one comparisons between the two:
Generally, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ provides an LTE network with an Octa-core processor (Quad-core Cortex A57 2.1 GHz and Quad-core Cortex A53 1.5 GHz), Mali T760MP8 GPU and 4 GB RAM. The internal storage provided by this device is 64 GB, without any external card slot. On the other hand, Sony Xperia Z5 provides an LTE network with an Octa-core processor (Quad-core Cortex A57 2 GHz and Quad-core Cortex A53 1.5 GHz), Adreno 430 GPU and 3 GB RAM. The internal storage provided is 32 GB, with external MicroSD slot for up to 200 GB.
From the general specification, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ has a slightly better specification, which result in slightly better performance if you compare it with Sony Xperia Z5. This is because the RAM provided by Sony Xperia Z5 is 1 GB less than the RAM provided by the Galaxy S6 Edge+. Also, the processor installed in the Galaxy S6 Edge+ has slightly higher clock speed than Xperia Z5’s processor. However, the Sony Xperia Z5 device provides better storage option, since it has 32 GB internal storage, with up to 200 GB external storage, whereas the Galaxy S6 Edge+ only offers 64 GB internal storage without external card slot.
The cameras offered by Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ are 16 MP primary and 5 MP secondary cameras, with the capability to record 2160p videos at 30 FPS. On the other hand, Sony Xperia Z5 offers 23 MP primary and 5.1 MP secondary cameras, with the capability to record 2160p videos at 30 FPS.
When you compare the two devices, Sony Xperia Z5 offers a better camera option with a better optical resolution than the Galaxy S6 Edge+. However, the secondary camera offered by Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is capable of recording 1440p videos at 30 FPS, whereas the secondary camera offered by Sony Xperia Z5 only allows you to record 1080p videos.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ offers you various features, such as a fingerprint sensor, Samsung Pay, curved edge screen, and wireless charging. Sony Xperia Z5, on the other hand, offers features like dust-proof and water-resistant device, fingerprint sensor, and quick charge. Both batteries are non-removable, with Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ offers 3000 mAh battery and Sony Xperia Z5 offers 2900 mAh battery. From the battery, you can say that Samsung has a slightly higher battery power than Sony. However, Sony offers a quick charge feature which allows you to charge your battery for 60% in 30 minutes, while Samsung offers the wireless charging option which allows you to charge your device conveniently.
For the performance, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ wins the battle, since it offers a slightly better hardware than the Xperia Z5. However, when it comes to camera and other features, Sony Xperia Z5 offers a better option, with its high resolution camera, dust-proof, water resistant, and quick charge features.
